Locals forced to provide gallons of water for Burmese troops
Dec 15, 2009 - Villagers from seven villages situated in Heepoklo village tract are being forced by SPDC's troops from IB no. 102 to fetch water for their daily use from a lake and deliver it to their military camp in turn, starting from November 30th this year, as reported by an insider source.
"Each village is instructed to fetch water twice a day and they were ordered to fetch 360 gallons each time. This order came at one of the villagers busiest times as people have to harvest their crops, but there is no choice. They are in a difficult situation, particularly those who are already struggling to survive from day to day," said the source.
These seven villages are Daw Tadah, Daw Byaku, Hteepoklo, Daw Khuse, Hteetheklo, Phelya and Daw Lyakhu.
